POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical/Office Assistant - Women's Health Associates. The successful candidate will assist in delivering primary health care and patient care management. They will provide support to ensure effective and efficient patient care at the practice site, including greeting, directing, and scheduling patients and visitors. The role also involves serving as a liaison between patients and clinical staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Greet patients, escort them into exam rooms, verify sign-in, and retrieve patient charts. Assist with treatments under physician supervision. Schedule tests and treatments. Prepare patients for examinations by taking histories and vital signs, reviewing medications and chief complaints. Prepare exam rooms and equipment. Provide quality patient care. Screen and triage patient calls for referral to physicians. Perform clinical skills such as taking vital signs, patient histories, EKGs, Holter monitors, glucose testing, finger sticks, etc.
  2. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  3. Ensure compliance with all HIPAA guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  4. Handle patient check-out when POS billing isn't available. Contact insurance carriers for referrals and prior authorizations. Assist with obtaining referrals to specialty practices as needed.
  5. Attend staff meetings as required. Interpret and apply guidelines and procedures. Distribute educational materials to patients.
  6. Perform clerical duties accurately and promptly. Screen visitors, respond to routine inquiries, answer phones, schedule appointments, obtain referrals, process copayments, and retrieve test results. Manage patient files and records. Mail reports and forms. Order and maintain supplies and equipment.
  7. Respond promptly and courteously to all telephone communications, including prescription refills, authorization requests, patient questions, referrals, scheduling, and emergencies. Maintain the appointment schedule and verify/update patient information in the electronic medical record. Confirm appointments daily and take messages as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or at least 2 years of medical/office experience. Excellent communication skills (written and oral), interpersonal skills, multitasking ability, and customer service skills. Basic math and computer skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Medical Assistant Certification preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and IDX system. Ability to handle patient interactions with diplomacy and tact, maintaining confidentiality. Effective communication with all organizational levels.
