Organization: LifeFlight Tiered Response

Job Summary:

Independently utilize assessment skills to activate patient care protocols within the Tennessee paramedic scope of practice, aligned with Vanderbilt paramedic guidelines. Responsible for triage care both in the field and the Emergency Department. Ensure effective communication for safe, quality patient care within the paramedic team, during transport, and at handovers.

The LifeFlight Campus Response Team responds to campus emergencies and provides care to outpatients, inpatients, guests, and employees around Vanderbilt Campus.

Shifts: Monday - Friday, 2x12 hour shifts, 6:30 A.M. - 7 P.M.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Participate actively with healthcare team members to provide direct patient care.
  2. Transport patients via various modes, providing ALS and Critical Care management for all ages.
  3. Respond to emergency requests within Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt-sponsored, or other contracted events.
  4. Use problem-solving skills to independently resolve patient issues and collaborate with HCT for solutions.
  5. Identify and resolve patient and unit problems, following through to implementation.
  6. Communicate patient handovers effectively to the healthcare team.
  7. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Technical Capabilities:
  • Ventilator Management (Novice): Demonstrates fundamental proficiency in ventilator management under supervision.
  • Critical Thinking (Novice): Applies clear, accurate, and evidence-based reasoning to tasks.
  • Airway Establishing (Novice): Demonstrates basic skills in airway management with supervision.
  • Medication Management (Novice): Conducts systematic assessments of medication adherence, history, and potential issues.
  • Assessing, Intervening & Stabilizing Patients (Novice): Demonstrates basic proficiency in patient assessment and stabilization under supervision.
