County of Dare in North Carolina is seeking a part-time Emergency Medical Technician to provide emergency medical care and ALS to residents and visitors under the supervision of the EMT-Lieutenant and EMT-Captain. The role includes maintaining vehicles and equipment, prioritizing patient needs, and transmitting vital information to receiving facilities.
The position requires a high school diploma or GED and EMT certification (state or national).
This is a part-time position. Performs technical work providing emergency medical care, maintains records and files, prepares reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the EMT-Lieutenant and EMT-Captain.
Interview process will be conducted in early 2026.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of emergency care, including diagnosis, proper treatment and automobile extraction and transportation; knowledge of the reading of electrocardiograms; knowledge of the principles of anatomy, physiology and chemistry in relation to the respiratory and circulatory systems; thorough knowledge of the street system and geography of the County; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to keep simple records and prepare reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates and the general public.
High school diploma or GED and experience as an Emergency Medical Technician (Basic, Intermediate, Paramedic) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must hold valid state or national certification at the level of the position.
