The listed minimum pay reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:High school diploma or equivalent. Valid NJ or PA Paramedic license based on location. National Registry accepted but requires state reciprocity submission within 45 days of hire.
Experience:One year EMS experience or pre-hospital emergency related experience.
Other Credentials:AHA ACLS-Adv Cardiac Life Supp,AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider,AHA PALS,Drivers License,NJ MICU Paramedic,PEPP ADV
Knowledge and Skills:Intermediate computer skills.
Special Training:ICS 100, NIMS 700, and HAZMAT awareness. Specialty courses.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responds to dispatched emergency assignments expeditiously. Maintains a state of readiness to be able to respond to an assignment within sixty seconds under most circumstances.
- Assesses patient's current condition through physical and verbal exam via patient or others present. Collects all available pertinent patient information form patient, family and friends, medical records, and medications.
- Documents and relays accurately the patient's medications, dosage, and frequency to assure medical reconciliation whenever conditions permit. Provides appropriate and accurate patient report to medical control as indicated.
- Performs infusion, medication administration, intubation and other advanced skills as listed under NJAC 8:41 including but not limited to continuous and 12-lead electrocardiogram monitoring, cardiac pacing, needle thoracotomy, central line access, intravenous, and intraosseous access.
- Performs a rapid clinical assessment and determines if life threatening criteria is present. Interprets the limited history and physical exam while using caution to identify potential underlying critical issues.
- Recognizes changes in patient condition and seeks appropriate medical consult or when indicated, implements standing orders, or radio failure protocols. Follows physician orders accurately and safely. Adheres to standing order and radio failure protocols as written.
- Adheres to approved standing and radio failure orders as appropriate.
- Assures orders received are appropriate for the patients condition. Requests orders tactfully to adequately address patients needs including appropriate pain management.
- Identifies need for immediate response based on patient assessment. Repeats back to the medical control physician all verbal orders to confirm medication or dosages and treatment procedures.
- Demonstrates safety in all aspects of daily activities. Completes accurately a vehicle check sheet and assures safety concerns are addressed. Drives defensively while obeying New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission laws and follows emergency driving principles and practices that promote safe driving and minimize risk of injury or incident to life or property.
- Practices safe environmental and patient contact principals. Adheres to universal precautions when risk of contact with bodily fluids is anticipated. Assures sharps are accounted for and appropriately disposed of in accordance with CHS policies and procedures.
- Precepts new employees, students, and observers as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
