The City of Sun Prairie EMS Department is seeking Paramedics to fill one current Full-Time vacancy and LTE Vacancies. This position provides direct staff support for EMS calls. Ensures the ambulances and equipment are clean inside and out and in optimum operating condition. Maintains supplies through an inventory-based system for use on the ambulance and at EMS facilities.
Starting Salary: Wage range reflects starting pay up to the 7-year step for lateral entry.
Lateral Entry Program for Full-Time Paramedics:
- Candidates must have been employed Full-Time as a paramedic with an agency in Wisconsin (or another state with Wisconsin DHS reciprocity) for at least 3 years.
- New Hire Paramedics will be granted a starting wage up to seven (7) years of the wage scale based on their prior full-time experience. Future pay increases will be based on combined experience and service with Sun Prairie Fire and EMS, effective on their anniversary date.
- Vacation time off will also be based on prior full-time experience, not exceeding five (5) years, with future increases on their anniversary date.

Responsibilities include:
- Responding quickly and safely to accidents or illnesses.
- Performing patient assessments and providing emergency care.
- Providing advanced life support, including IV access, medication administration, airway management, and defibrillation.
- Managing multi-casualty incidents and requesting additional resources.
- Performing daily ambulance checks, cleaning, and routine maintenance.
Additional duties:
- Assisting in special projects and training.
- Participating in public relations and educational programs.
Qualifications:
- Current WI Paramedic license and certifications (CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent).
- Valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
- Completion of EVOC or equivalent.
- Preferred: college degree, National Registry certification, additional advanced certifications.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Windows, and EMS software.
- Strong communication, organizational, and judgment skills.
Pre-employment Testing includes:
- Written and practical evaluations, background check, drug screen, physical, and ability to lift 100 lbs.
