Job Summary

Provides quality 911 advanced emergency medical response in the community and surrounding area. Responsible for advanced pre-hospital care of patients in a high impact area with minimal supervision.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Performs patient assessment and provides appropriate treatment according to established protocols and medical command in the pre-hospital setting.
  2. Accurately and completely documents patient assessment, treatment, response to treatment, and transfer of care upon completion of every incident. Responds to all quality assurance requests efficiently.
  3. Operates MICU vehicles safely, defensively, and courteously, adhering to motor vehicle law and policies. Ensures vehicle is fueled, operable, and reports issues promptly.
  4. Performs vehicle and equipment checks at each shift start. Ensures the vehicle and ready room are stocked and ready for service.
  5. Completes supply inventory as requested by management.
  6. Maintains all Virtua owned equipment and property in a safe, clean, and secure manner.
  7. Participates in education, orientation, and training of students and new staff. Monitors student performance and provides guidance.
Qualifications and Requirements
  1. Previous BLS experience.
  2. High school diploma or GED required.
  3. Graduate of a recognized Paramedic Training Program.
  4. Certified as a Paramedic by the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services.
  5. Current CPR certification (professional rescuer level), ACLS, PALS or PEPP, PHTLS or ITLS, and EVOC.
  6. Valid Driver's License recognized by New Jersey, with a driving record meeting insurance standards.
  7. Completion of all State and Federally mandated NIMS/ICS training.
  8. Annual completion of PPD, Fit Test, Compliance, HIPAA, and Safety training as scheduled.
