Job summary

Mercy EMS is seeking a skilled paramedic to provide direct patient care, stabilization, and transport under Mercy System protocols. You will assess patients, access difficult terrain, and coordinate with responders to ensure safe evacuations.

The role requires an EMT-P license, valid driver’s license, Hazmat awareness, ACLS at hire, and PALS within 6 months. Physical stamina is essential to handle lifting, bending, and operations in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Paramedic (EMT-P) license for the state of practice and a valid driving license.
• Ages and certifications: at least 19 years old; Hazmat awareness; ACLS at hire; PALS within 6 months of hire/transfer.
• Must be physically able to perform duties including lifting, climbing, and operating under stressful conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, stabilization, and transport according to Mercy EMS protocols.
• Access patients in challenging environments and coordinate with medical teams during evacuations.
• Perform clerical and maintenance duties as required to support EMS operations.

Qualifications Position Details: Licensure: Paramécic (EMT-P) license for the state of practice, Valid driving license. Experience: Applicants must be at least 19 years of age. Certifications/Registration: Hazmat awareness level training, ACLS at hire, PALS within 6 months of hire/transfer. Other: Unimpaired mobility: Must be able to respond quickly to ambulance, must be able to access patients in difficult terrain, must be able to climb stairs, must be able to work in close and dangerous environments such as damaged vehicles, must be able to partner to carry equipment and patients. Must be able to perform strenuous physical requirements such as CPR, lifting and moving equipment and patients in a variety of environmental conditions. Must be able to perform required medical skills and techniques. Must have correctable vision acceptable for day and night operation of emergency vehicles, must have color acuity adequate for determination of skin and blood color, and must be able to read medication dosages on drug labels and syringes. Must be able to hear and understand information provided by patients, family or bystanders' must be able to hear breath sounds and accurately determine auscultated blood pressures; must be able to differentiate separate conversations in active, distracting environments; must be able to hear and understand radio traffic when responding with lights and sirens. Must be able to speak and enunciate and at a level audible to others in loud conditions, must be able to speak clearly in stressful situations, must be able to verbally communicate with patients, families and other emergency services personnel. Incumbents will be required to successfully satisfy the physical demands of the role. This will include a pre-hire and annual fitness for duty test. Equipment Used: Mobile and portable communications equipment, Monitor/Defibrillator/Pacer, approved stretcher, stair chair, backboard, scoop type device, variety of bags and kits, assigned ambulance, computer, FAX, printer and other office related equipment. Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred Licensure: ITLS or equivalent training. Preferred Experience: Background in Emergency Services. ere Tactical EMS (TEMS) services are provided, training in TEMS is preferred before allowing participation. Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
