Job summary

Coffey County Hospital is seeking a Paramedic to administer life support in pre-hospital settings under physician guidance. You will assess injuries, stabilize patients, monitor cardiac conditions, and coordinate with hospitals and EMS teams.

The role requires completion of Kansas Paramedic program and active licensing. Primary duties include scene response, airway management, medication administration, and transport to care facilities.

  • Restores and stabilizes heart rhythm on pulse-less, non-breathing patient.

  • Performs endotracheal intubations to open airways and ventilate patient.
  • Drives Ambulances to emergency scene and communicates with hospital and medical personnel.
  • Assists in extricating trapped victims and transports patients to treatment center.
  • Observes and reports patient condition and reaction to drugs and treatments.

Other duties may be assigned.* Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed, or need for additional assistance.* Restores and stabilizes heart rhythm on pulse-less, non-breathing patient.* Monitors cardiac patient.* Initiates intravenous fluids to administer medication or drugs, or to replace fluids lacking in body.* Perform endotracheal tube intubations to open airways and ventilate patient.* Administers injections of medications and drugs.* Administers initial treatment at emergency scene and takes and records patient's vital signs.* Assists in extricating trapped victims and transports sick and injured persons to treatment center.* Observes, records, and reports to Physician patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.* Drives Ambulances to emergency scene.* Communicates with hospital, physician, and other medical personnel in person and by radio-telephone.* Maintains professional and technical knowledge.* Follow the CHS Code of Conduct and work within the personnel and department-based policies.* Other duties may be assigned.**Supervisory Responsibilities:** May direct 3 to 6 employees. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients, family members, and medical practitioners. **Mathematical Skills:** Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.**Reasoning Ability:**Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
