Job summary

Ascension is recruiting for an Emergency Department PRN role at Ascension St Vincent Castleton Micro Hospital in Castleton, IN. You will contribute to life-saving care, provide advanced life support, stabilize patients, and educate families within a fast-paced ED setting.

The position requires licensure/certification in Advanced Life Support, BLS, and an Indiana EMT or Paramedic credential; a valid Indiana driver's license is preferred, with Pediatric Life Support as a plus.

Qualifications

• Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required: EMT or Paramedic credentialed from Indiana Homeland Security.
• Driver's license from Indiana preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients.
• Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient with a physician or RN.
• Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols; monitor and relay patient condition.
• Provide population-specific education to patient and family about illness and interventions.
• Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure safety of transport team and patients.

How you'll make an impact in this role

Provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients.

• Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse.
• Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
• Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.
• Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.

What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Paramedic credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Drivers License credentialed from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

What Additional Preferences We're Seeking

• Paramedic license required
• 3+ years of experience
