ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. It has achieved Magnet designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation, and outpatient health services to a 29-county region serving over 1.4 million people.

Position Summary

The Paramedic functions as a member of the care team, participating in the care of ill and injured patients. Responsibilities include patient care, stabilization, and intervention techniques consistent with standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director. The Paramedic shares team responsibilities and fulfills educational skill requirements as established by the Medical Director.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent or higher
  • Graduate from an approved Paramedic program
  • Current certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support
  • North Carolina Paramedic certification (NC EMT-P)
