Job summary

Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics (GMHC) in Guttenberg, Iowa is hiring full-time EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic to provide emergency medical care in both the field and the hospital's Emergency Department. You will work with EMS teams, nurses, and physicians to deliver patient-centered care across ages in high-pressure situations.

The role requires Iowa EMT/AEMT/Paramedic certification, BLS, and a valid driver's license, with additional ACLS/PALS/Neonatal Resuscitation qualifications preferred for

Qualifications

• Must hold Current State of Iowa EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic certification.
• Completion of an accredited EMT program (EMT applicants) or appropriate AEMT/Paramedic certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, assess patients, and provide appropriate pre-hospital care within your certification and scope of practice.
• Safely operate emergency vehicles during emergency responses and patient transports.
• Collaborate with EMS personnel, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in the Emergency Department.
• Assist with patient assessments, vital signs, emergency procedures, and other patient care activities as appropriate to your certification level.
• Support emergency interventions, including resuscitation and airway management, within your scope of practice.
• Maintain ambulance readiness, equipment, supplies, and Emergency Department treatment areas.
• Complete accurate and timely patient care documentation.
• Assist with patient care in other hospital departments when needed and when EMS responsibilities allow.
• Provide compassionate care and support to patients and families during emergency situations.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Current State of Iowa EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic certification.

• Completion of an accredited EMT program (EMT applicants) or appropriate AEMT/Paramedic certification.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Current Iowa driver's license.

• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Commitment to providing safe, compassionate, high-quality patient care.

Additional Requirements for Paramedics:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

• Neonatal Resuscitation certification within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• National Registry certification appropriate to the applicant's certification level.

• Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification for AEMT/Paramedic applicants.
