Job summary

Summa Health System, Wadsworth Campus, is seeking a Paramedic to assist Emergency Department physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists with pre-hospital and ED triage, stabilization and patient transport.

Successful candidates will have Ohio paramedic certification, EMT field experience within the past five years, and current BLS-HCP and ACLS; PALS may be required by location. This part-time role includes competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of field EMT experience within the past five years.
• Successful completion of Ohio DPS EMS-paramedic education and state certification.
• Current BLS-HCP and ACLS certifications; PALS may be required depending on location.
• Ability to interact effectively with patients and families with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to ED physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists in pre-hospital and Emergency Department triage, stabilization, and transport of patients.

Summary

Provides assistance to the Emergency Department physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists in pre-hospital and Emergency Department Triage, stabilization, and transport of patients.

Formal Education Required

Successful completion of a course approved by the Ohio Department of Public Safety Division of EMS in Paramedic education and current certification by the State of Ohio.

Experience & Training Required

One (1) years of field experience (recent, within past five years), as an EMT in a part time or full-time capacity.

Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications

• Current certification in BLS-HCP and ACLS
• May require current certification in PALS – varies by location
• Other certifications and competencies as required by department
• Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity

Level of Physical Demands

• Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects
• Ability to move and lift patients
