Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital in Florida seeks a Paramedic to join its Emergency Department team. You will provide immediate medical treatment during night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary setting.

Qualifications include accredited EMS-Paramedic training, EMTP licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and clinical EMS experience. ITLS and a valid driver's license are preferred; NRP training is expected within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Must have accredited EMS-Paramedic training and current EMTP licensure.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required or obtained upon hire.
• NRP within six months of hire; ITLS a plus.
• Associate degree in EMS preferred; 3+ years EMT/Paramedic experience valuable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment.
• Assess nature and extent of illness/injury and patient history from available sources.
• Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response.
• Administer emergency medical care, including life support procedures and monitoring.
• Perform fluid/drug administration as needed.
• Communicate with hospital personnel, report observations and hand-off at hospital if on the Transport Team.
• Navigate ambulance to scene of accident when responding to emergency calls.

Weston Hospital’s Emergency Department features multi‑disciplinary care teams and state‑of‑the‑art technology to diagnose and treat patients effectively, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a Paramedic, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Maintain equipment.
• Assess nature and extent of illness/injury and patient's history from available sources.
• Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response.
• Administer appropriate emergency medical care, including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, obtaining EKG readings and vital statistics monitoring.
• Perform fluid/drug administration as needed.
• Communicate with medical personnel at hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital if on the Transport Team.
• Navigate Ambulance to scene of accident in response to emergency call if on the Transport Team.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic Training Program
• Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Associate (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross upon hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department
• Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training Program
• Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP) within six months of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Associate degree in EMS
• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
• Current Valid Driver's License (VDL)
• Three years of experience as an EMT or Paramedic
• Experience in emergency room, Fire Rescue, etc., or other critical care transport

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
