The role you’ll contribute:

The ED Advanced Multi Tech performs patient care under the direction of and as assigned by the Charge nurse, registered nurse, and/or physician or their designee. Performs general clinical, non-clinical, and clerical services necessary to ensure the efficient functioning of the nursing unit, consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures. Utilizes age-specific competencies in the care of all patient populations. Adheres to the AdventHealth corporate compliance plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Attaches 12 lead EKGs and completes tests before giving strips to the physician on duty. Initiates cardiac monitoring, detects dysrhythmias, and notifies the nurse or charge nurse of abnormalities. Initiates oxygen therapy as directed by RN or Physician. Performs venipuncture for testing.
• Inserts peripheral venous access (IV) and intraosseous (IO), with or without Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), hangs IV fluids without medication, and maintains prescribed IV flow rates. Observes and documents the condition of the infusion site. Removes IV lines as directed by RN.
• Transports unmonitored patients to inpatient departments as needed, transports stable monitored patients to PCU/med-tele, or accompanies RN to transport patients to specialty units. Assists physicians or RNs with procedures and exams (e.g., sutures, pelvic exams, lumbar punctures, orthopedic splints, casting). Applies slings, orthopedic splints, dressings, etc., with proper competencies. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, uses PPE appropriately, performs hand hygiene, and enforces safety regulations.
• Provides excellent customer service by practicing AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You), keeping patients informed, providing updates, apologizing for waits, demonstrating care and compassion, advocating for pain management, and ensuring patients can access help anytime. Performs hourly rounding to meet patient and family needs.
• Performs accurate order entry within Epic.

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

• Completion of a paramedic program
• Valid State Licensure as a Paramedic
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course

Preferred qualifications:

• One year ED or pre-hospital paramedic experience
• Critical Care Paramedic Program completion
