Medical City Las Colinas, part of the HCA Healthcare family, seeks an Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT-P) to provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department under RN supervision. You will document vital signs, assist with EKGs, IVs, wound care, and patient mobilization while maintaining the Texas Paramedic/EMT scope of practice.

Ideal candidates hold ACLS, BCLS, and PALS, along with a high school diploma or GED, and paramedic or EMT licensure.

Qualifications

• ACLS, BCLS and PALS certifications required or obtained within 6 months of start date.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Paramedic certification or EMT licensure required.
• 1 year Paramedic experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assist with obtaining and documenting vital signs and monitoring systems.
• Assist with 12-lead EKGs and IV/hospital monitoring tasks.
• Assist with wound care, cast/splint applications, and patient positioning.
• Perform basic psychomotor skills related to patient care.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion and nasogastric tubes.
• Stock carts, rooms, and change linen as required.
• Provide written instructions and educational materials to patients and families.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT-P) provides direct patient care, within the scope of the Texas Paramedic/EMT Practice Act and under the direction of the Registered Nurse, in the Emergency Department. As an ER Advanced Care Tech, you perform a variety of functions for patients requiring urgent or emergency attention. What you will do in this role

• You will assist with obtaining and documenting vital signs and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems.
• You will assist with other technical functions such as: obtaining 12-lead EKGs, discontinuation of peripheral IV and heparin/saline locks and maintenance and care of specimens for laboratory analysis.
• You will assist with patient care and treatments including positioning patients, application of sterile dressings, immobilization of extremities, cast and splint applications.
• You will complete basic psychomotor skills and activities related to care.
• You will assist with wound care, insertion of Foley catheters and nasogastric tubes.
• You will clean and stock carts, rooms, and change linen as required.
• You will provide written instructions and/or educational materials to patients and family members.

Qualifications you will need

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• High School Graduate / GED
• Paramedic, or (EMT-State) Emergency Medical Technician, or (EMT) Emergency Medical Technician
• 1 year experience as a Paramedic Preferred
