Job summary

Priority Ondemand in Roswell, GA is seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Paramedic to provide advanced care during ground transport. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to follow protocols for the Critical Care Division and ensure patient safety during interfacility transfers.

The role requires 3–5 years of paramedic experience, current GA or National Registry certification, ACLS/BLS/PALS where applicable, and the ability to operate complex equipment such as cardiac monitors,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Completion of an accredited paramedic program.
• Completion of an approved emergency vehicle driving course before orientation release.
• 3–5 years' experience as a Paramedic in high-acuity EMS; Critical Care preferred.
• GA Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic with GA certification after orientation.
• ACLS, BLS current by orientation; PALS preferred.
• CCP-C or CCP/FP-C certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based professional patient care and coordinate care delivery with the team.
• Drive ambulance to relieve the primary driver as needed during trips.
• Administer meds and IV fluids during inter-hospital transports.
• Operate equipment such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, hi-flow, IV pumps.
• Maintain unit readiness and supplies; ensure clean, stocked ambulances.
• Assess patient needs and document care and outcomes accurately.
• Collaborate with ICU, Cath Lab and ED teams; participate in training at Northside Hospital campuses.
• Monitor IABP therapy and transport patients on Impella devices within scope.
• Transport ECMO-supported patients with hospital ECMO teams present.
• Ensure adherence to regulations and safe ambulance operations.

Will work together with a team to adhere to the standards of care established by the protocols for the Critical Care Division, the Critical Care Paramedic will work to provide superior patient care in the ground transport environment.

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the patient and family, provides evidence-based professional patient care and coordinates care delivery with other members of the healthcare team


• May be required to drive the ambulance to relieve the primary driver during trips with no patient onboard or to accommodate dynamic staffing needs


• Administers and maintains pharmacologic agents and intravenous fluids during inter hospital transports


• Operate and maintain proficiency with all equipment to in include cardiac monitors, ventilators, hi-flow, and IV pumps


• Assists the EMT/Driver in maintaining unit readiness and ensures cleanliness and appropriate par levels for supplies used in the ambulance


• Based on assessment of physical, emotional, bio-physical, and spiritual needs, provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes


• Incorporates the principles of patient-centered care


• Manage and monitor intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) therapy during transport in coordination with sending/receiving facilities.


• Provide transport care for patients supported by Impella devices, including hemodynamic monitoring and device troubleshooting within scope.


• Operate and manage advanced ventilator modes for critical patients, ensuring safe transport and continuity of care.


• Maintain and interpret arterial lines for real-time blood pressure monitoring and sampling.


• Safely transport patients receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support in collaboration with hospital ECMO teams.


• Engage in collaborative training and education alongside ICU, Cath Lab, and Emergency Department teams at Northside Hospital campuses.


• Maintain current knowledge of evolving critical care practices and transport protocols through structured continuing education.


• Foster positive relationships with hospital physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to strengthen continuity of care and inter-facility collaboration.


• Serve as a professional representative of the organization, demonstrating effective communication and teamwork with hospital partners.


• Collaborates with online medical control physicians to manage the patient care of complex patients in transport


• Communicates patients' clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and written format


• Clearly and accurately documents pertinent information in the patients' medical record


• Consistently demonstrates effective documentation practices and develops strategies to ensure complete documentation of patient care


• Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations


• Ensures safe operations during ambulance related activities in coordination with the Emergency Vehicle Operator


• Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families


• Provides basic patient comfort measures during procedures


• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications Requirements

• High School Diploma required


• Completion of an accredited paramedic program


• Completion of an approved emergency vehicle driving course prior to release from orientation


• 3-5 years' Experience as a Paramedic in a high acuity, high volume EMS system. Prefer Critical Care experience. (Preferred)


• Georgia Paramedic preferred, or National Registry Paramedic w/ GA Paramedic obtained by completion of orientation.


• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Advanced Life Support (ACLS) current by completion of orientation


• BLS - Basic Life Support Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) current by completion of orientation


• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) current by completion of orientation (Preferred)


• CCP-C - Critical Care Paramedic - Certified preferred or obtains specialty certification within 18 months (CCP, FP-C) (Preferred)


• Unrestricted Driver's License with clean driving history, and must maintain a good driving record


• Ability to lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 125 pounds equally distributed and 250 pounds with assistance, to a height of 33 inches and a distance of 10 feet
