Paramedic Role Overview

The Paramedic role reviews emergency medical systems and provides support in emergency medical situations. Working under general supervision for routine situations, this position manages critical patient care and emergency response, and ensures timeliness of reports and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct reviews of emergency medical systems and protocols to ensure proper functionality and adherence to established standards.
2. Ensure the quality and timeliness of reports and records related to emergency medical services to maintain accurate documentation.
3. Manage employee inquiries and troubleshoot issues requiring policy interpretation, providing guidance and resolution.
4. Coach lower-level professionals to support their growth and development.
5. Maintain a high level of expertise in emergency medical procedures, treatments, and technologies to deliver effective patient care.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

• 1 year of Paramedic experience in ED/Occupational Health.
• 3 years of EMS paramedic experience for Carelink positions.
• For Carelink transport positions, 3 years of EMS paramedic or critical care transport paramedic experience.
• For Carelink relief paramedics, 5 years of EMS paramedic experience and 1 year of critical care transport experience.

Licensure, Certification, and Registry

• Current valid NC Paramedic certification.
• BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
• ACLS certification from American Red Cross or Healthcare Provider.
• Valid Driver's License; if driving a CH vehicle, must have a minimum of 5 years as a licensed driver with an approved MVR by Risk Management.
• Carelink: Emergency Vehicle Operator's course completed within 1 year of hire.
