Job summary

UPMC is hiring a Full-Time Paramedic to support Adams County. Schedule: 24/16. Incumbents must be able to work in all weather conditions and respond to emergency situations with appropriate safety equipment.

This position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year work commitment and a supportive team environment. Responsibilities include providing advanced life support, following protocols, documenting diligently, and maintaining equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients following protocols.

• Respond promptly to service requests and maintain clean patient environments.
• Ensure compliance with drug and alcohol policies and reporting.
• Complete payroll and orientation-related forms in a timely manner.

Incumbents must be able to work in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold, and may be required to respond to emergency, hazardous, or high-risk situations. Appropriate safety equipment and procedures must be followed at all times.

Responsibilities

• Reflects a positive attitude to the customer in a high stress environment at all times, with a clear understanding of who the customer is.
• Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care, assessing online medical command or other resources when appropriate.
• Adheres to the current uniform policy.
• Demonstrates competency related to pharmacological interventions.
• Performs daily equipment check (vehicle, medications)
• Ensures safe operation of patient laden stretcher employing appropriate stretcher discipline at all times.
• Reports for work well rested and fit for duty.
• Adhering to the drug and alcohol policy at all times. including prescription and/or over the counter medicine use.
• Completes all official documentation in a timely manner such as payroll, expense reports, orientation forms, etc.
• Responds promptly and efficiently to all requests for service.
• Maintains clean patient environment as well as crew quarters
• Reports injuries and completes the appropriate documentation, no matter how minor, to a supervisor in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates skills, competencies, and judgment necessary to provide patient care in any environment; using educational resources that are required or made available.
• Utilizes appropriate safety channels to report safety concerns and uses tools available to enhance a safe work environment.
• Adheres to rules for scheduling, including schedule requests, minimum time, and availability.
• Selects and uses personal protective equipment appropriate to the level of the anticipated hazard.

• Collects and promptly processes demographic, medical necessity, and other necessary billing information.
