Job summary

UPMC is hiring a Casual-Paramedic to support Adams County. This position offers flexible scheduling and requires the ability to work 36 hours every quarter.

Incumbents must be able to respond to emergency and high-risk situations in all weather conditions, following safety protocols and using appropriate protective equipment. Responsibilities include providing advanced life support, equipment checks, proper documentation, and maintaining a safe, professional environment for patients and crew.

Responsibilities

• Reflects a positive attitude in a high-stress environment at all times with a clear understanding of the customer.
• Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients following established protocols; assess online medical command as needed.
• Adheres to the current uniform policy.
• Demonstrates competency related to pharmacological interventions.
• Performs daily equipment checks (vehicle, medications).
• Ensures safe operation of patient transport stretcher with proper technique.
• Reports to work well rested and fit for duty.
• Follows drug and alcohol policy for medications.
• Completes payroll, expense reports, orientation forms, and related documentation in a timely manner.
• Responds promptly and efficiently to all requests for service.
• Maintains clean patient environment and crew quarters.
• Reports injuries and documents them promptly to a supervisor.
• Demonstrates skills and judgment to provide patient care using available educational resources.
• Uses safety channels to report concerns and promotes a safe work environment.
• Adheres to scheduling rules including requests and availability.
• Selects and uses appropriate PPE for the hazard level.
• Equipment checks, transport log, medication log.
• Collects and promptly processes demographic, medical necessity, and billing information.
