Job summary

Job description

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for responding to routine and emergency requests to provide efficient and immediate assessment, treatment and transportation of ill, critically ill and injured patients in various setting within the scope of training under a physicians medical control authority.

Job Functions
  1. Systematically collects and correctly analyzes assessment data.
  2. Provides appropriate direct and indirect patient care of treatment consistent with SOP's.
  3. Transfers the responsibility for the care of the patient to other qualified providers.
  4. Provides for a safe working environment with emphasis on the preventative aspects of safety.
  5. Operates and maintains ambulance and base in professional and safe manner and performs vehicle and equipment safety checks.
  6. Provide services for community events and other RMC public relation events.
  7. Assists in the completion of the departmental managerial duties as assigned.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned. When Functioning as the supply/equipment coordinator duties include:
    1. Weekly ordering of medical supplies, medications, oxygen and/or linens.
    2. Determines and maintains adequate par levels of all supplies and/or equipment.
    3. Processes and fills supply orders for remote bases and arranges for delivery.
    4. Facilitates the repair of and/or coordinates preventative maintenance for all applicable equipment.
    5. Evaluates current supplies and/or equipment and makes change recommendations as needed.
    6. Assists in determining vehicle and bag layouts and keeps detailed inventory lists.
    7. Evaluates function and/or feasibility of potential new supplies and/or equipment
    8. Assists in fleet service as needed.
    9. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years old in order to meet Ridgeview's insurability requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and teambuilding skills
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

  • Ability to employ discretion and confidentiality in sensitive areas
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities and accountability for personal, professional, ethical and legal standards

License/Certifications
  • Current State of Minnesota Paramedic certification
  • Current AHA BLS and ACLS certification
  • Valid MN driver's license and meets Ridgeview's insurability requirements
