Within this position an employee works independently in providing high level of emergency care by responding to emergency calls for a variety of illnesses and injuries. Performs basic and advanced life support, stabilization procedures and emergency medical care at the Paramedic level of training and certification and performs equipment operation duties on a twenty-four hour shift providing EMS services for the county.
This posting will be used to fill both full-time and on-call positions. Applicants may be considered for either type of position based on departmental needs and availability.

High School diploma or equivalent required, and some experience as a Paramedic; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience with data entry and computers preferred. Prior Microsoft Windows usage preferred.
Possession of a valid NC driver's license is required. Certification by the State of North Carolina as a Paramedic. Required to attend mandatory continuing education sessions provided by the department.

Membership in the NC Local Government Employees Retirement System (NCLGERS) is a requirement for all full-time and regular part‑time employees (working more than 1,000 hours annually). Employees contribute six percent (6%) of their annual compensation before it is taxed.
Annual Leave is accrued based on years of service. Employees can accrue from 10-25 days per year.
All County full time employees earn 12 days of sick leave per year.
