Join to apply for the Paramedic role at University Hospital.

The primary purpose of the Paramedic position is to provide and direct pre-hospital Basic and Advanced Life Support (BLS, ALS) in all weather conditions, in concert with other EMS employees, as a member of the patient care team under the supervision of a licensed Medical Control Physician (MCP) and EMS Supervisor. The role involves assessing, treating, lifting, moving patients of all ages and populations, transporting them to medical facilities, and completing all documentation to support EMS operations and represent UH professionally.

Qualifications

• At least two (2) years EMS experience and two (2) years EMS driving experience with a good driving record.
• Preferred: Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) training, valid PHTLS or BTLS provider card.
• Ability to pass medical evaluation and respirator fit test; capable of wearing an N95 mask per PEOSHA standards.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
• Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
• Current, active credentials as NJ Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic or Nurse; must obtain NJ MICN certification if not already held, and maintain certification without interruption.
• Driver’s license with NJ privileges, compliant with DOT/MVC regulations.
• Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP-A, ICS Level 100+, NIMS Awareness, HazMat Awareness, CBRNE/WMD Awareness.
• Source verification for credentials through designated agencies.

Physical Demands

Must be in excellent physical condition, capable of seeing colors, hearing, speaking, reading, and operating equipment. Must lift a minimum of 50 lbs. frequently and up to 125 lbs. occasionally.

Work Environment

Ability to work in all weather and environmental conditions, lift and move patients, and handle unpredictable and potentially hazardous situations, including exposure to blood-borne pathogens and assaultive behaviors.
