Job summary

1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds is seeking a qualified Paramedic to transport patients while providing first aid or life support en route to healthcare facilities. You will be expected to effectively assess and treat patients while ensuring a high standard of care.

The ideal candidate must have relevant certifications and a strong background in emergency medical services. This position includes a competitive salary and a comprehensive Union benefits package.

Qualifications

• Completion of NYS Department of Health approved Paramedic Program required.
• Must have 6 months ambulance experience as a Paramedic.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients while providing first aid or life support en route.
• Provide ALS assessment of patient condition and treat in accordance with NYS DOH.

Transport patients while providing first aid or life support en route to healthcare facilities. Trained in providing oral and intravenous medication, EKG monitoring and tracheotomies.

Qualifications

• Completion of NYS Department of Health approved Paramedic Program required
• 6 months ambulance experience as a Paramedic
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and provide ALS assessment of patient condition and treat in accordance with NYS DOH
• Current NYS DOH Paramedic Certification
• Current NYC REMSCO/REMAC Paramedic Certification
• Class D Driver's License (with safe driving record)
• Valid NYS Driver's License
• High School Diploma or GED/TASC required
• Weapons of Mass Destruction Certificate (WMD) preferred
• Haz-Mat Awareness Certificate preferred
• CEVO, FEMA or EVOC Certificate preferred

Schedule

• All positions are in hospitals and nursing homes. These facilities are open 24 hours/7 days each week.
• General shift availability:
  • Days (7a-3p or 8a-4p)
  • Evenings (3p-11p or 4p-12a)
  • Nights (11p-7a or 12a-8a)
• Every other weekend is usually required for all positions.
