Job summary

International SOS is seeking a Paramedic for our industrial site near New Albany, IN. The role provides immediate medical care, first aid, and on-site life support as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of three years of paramedic experience, holds a Paramedic Ohio License with ACLS, BLS, and CPR/AED, and is capable of rapid assessment and transport. You will respond to emergencies, perform pre-hospital care, document incidents, and coordinate with physician

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited paramedic program.
• Minimum of three years paramedic experience.
• Experience in occupational medicine or clinic settings preferred.
• Drug and alcohol testing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate ambulance equipment and respond to radio transmissions.
• Coordinate with the team during emergencies.
• Provide basic and advanced life support care.
• Respond to accidents with ATLS principles.
• Assist with minor medical cases as directed.
• Prepare patients for transport to ED.
• Assess patient condition and document vitals.
• Assist providers with procedures within scope.
• Attend to injuries and illnesses with pre-hospital care.
• Administer basic care including injections, IV meds.
• Use equipment to stabilize patients and provide care.
• Write accurate incident reports.
• Stay current with new treatments through training.
• Conduct drug and alcohol testing on site.

Overall Purpose of the Job

The Paramedic provides treatment, such as first aid or life support care, to sick or injured patients. The Paramedic will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct and indirect clinical care to patients. The Paramedic will competently function as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient and community-centered care. The Paramedic serves as an advocate for the patient and their family and intercedes on their behalf by acting as a liaison for patients and their families with respect to their rights and beliefs. The Paramedic will utilize their expertise of evidenced based medical practice to manage unexpected and emergent situations, to mitigate and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses in a prompt and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate ambulance equipment and respond to radio transmissions.
• Coordinate with the team responding to an emergency.
• Provide emergency care in basic and advanced life support
• Respond to accidents and multiple traumas applying the principles of Advanced Trauma Life Support;
• Assist with minor/routine medical cases when not responding to emergency medical cases as directed by the Physician and Clinical Team Leader.
• Prepares patients for and safely transports them to the emergency department of a hospital or other healthcare facility.
• Evaluate the patient’s condition on the scene and perform a preliminary diagnosis; Assessment and documentation will include the patient’s vital signs, chief complaint, medical history and prescribed medications.
• Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
• Attend to injuries or sudden illnesses by applying a variety of pre-hospital simple and advanced treatments (first aid, CPR, administering injections and oxygen, etc.) or surgical procedures.
• Proactively and independently administer basic care, including but not limited to inserting catheters with blood specimen collection, urine collection and EKG's, visual acuity, basic wound care, changing bandages or administering intravenous medications.
• Use tech equipment and tools to stabilize patients or provide immediate treatment.
• Write and submit accurate reports on incidents.
• Keep abreast with new treatments and medical procedures through continuous training.
• Conduct drug and alcohol testing for the site.

Required Skills And Knowledge

• Completion of an accredited paramedic program

Required Work Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of paramedic experience
• Experience in a clinic setting (urgent care, emergency room, etc.)
• Occupational Medicine experience required
• Drug and alcohol testing experience (preferred)

Working Demands and Physical Conditions

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
• May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.
