Job summary

Ascension Evansville, IN is seeking a Paramedic to join the Critical Care Transport team providing advanced life support at the scene and during transport. The role collaborates with physicians and registered nurses to stabilize patients and deliver care in dynamic pre-hospital and interfacility settings.

The position requires Indiana Paramedic credentialing, ALS/BLS certifications, and a minimum of EMS experience.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of cumulative EMS experience OR an Associate's/Technical degree or 4 years of applicable job-specific experience.
  • Paramedic credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security is required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced life support for critically ill/injured patients at the scene and during transport as part of the transport team.
  • Identify, intervene, and stabilize the patient during interfacility and intrafacility transport with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse.
  • Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols and communicate patient condition and treatment to receiving staff.
  • Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
  • May drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies.

Education

How you’ll make an impact in this role

Provide advanced life support for critically ill/injured patients at the scene and during transport as part of the transport team.

  • Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility as part of the transport team in collaboration with the transport physician and/or Registered Nurse.
  • Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
  • Contact receiving medical personnel, report observations and follow directives.
  • Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
  • May be required to drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies.
What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Paramedic credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
One Or More Of The Following Preferred
  • Drivers License.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support or International Trauma Life support obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Work Experience
  • Minimum Qualification: Three years of full time experience in Emergency Medical Services as a Paramedic.
