Qualifications

The Paramedic provides care for patients during inter-facility transfers and 911 calls within the scope of practice for each level of EMT (Advanced, Critical Care, or Paramedic). Qualifications / Job Requirements include:

• Current AEMT card and online status
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Effective communication via telephone and radio
• Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance)
• Interpretation of oral, written, and diagnostic instructions
• Good judgment and composure in high-stress situations
• Resilience to loud noises and flashing lights
• Ability to work efficiently throughout a shift
• Calculating weight and volume ratios
• Reading English language manuals and road maps
• Discerning street signs and addresses
• Interviewing patients and family members
• Documenting information accurately and legally
• Communicating effectively with coworkers and hospital staff
• Manual dexterity for patient care tasks
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, crawl on uneven terrain
• Environmental adaptability (heat, cold, moisture)
• Working in low light and confined spaces
• Collaborative decision-making in patient care

Must demonstrate competency in all EMT-B skills, equipment usage, and provide Advanced Life Support with AEMT-Intermediate skills, including medication administration.
