You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.

About the role

You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment and will follow guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs, providing center-level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).

How you will contribute

• Determine donor eligibility: manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions, following applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing the Center Physician's standing orders and transporting donors to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when providing guidance on medical or technical issues, ensuring donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance regarding incidents.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations of pandemic threats in the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

What you bring to Takeda:

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Current license or certification as an EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation and Benefits

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $23.04 - $31.68 per hour.

The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific skills, education level, certifications or other professional licenses, and the location where the job will be performed. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term incentives and may participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, short- and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
