Qualifications

• High School GED, upon hire or High School Graduate, upon hire.
• Graduate from a nationally/state approved accrediting paramedic program.
• 1-3 years of experience as a paramedic in a high volume patient care setting.
• During orientation, complete Critical Care Paramedic course and pass CCP-C or FP-C exam to maintain employment.
• KY paramedic upon hire.
• BLS/CPR upon hire.
• ACLS within 90 days.
• PALS within 6 months.
• Flight Paramedic-Certified within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Administers BLS, PALS, ACLS and critical care interventions under physician supervision.
• Performs triage, assessments, interventions and patient education.
• Documents patient care services in patient/department records in a timely manner.
• Promotes patient independence by teaching patients and families to understand condition and care.
• Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional and spiritual support.

As a Paramedic, you will provide advanced emergency medical care and transport to critically ill or injured patients in pre-hospital and inter-facility settings.
Every day you will rapidly assess scenes, evaluate conditions, and administer life‑saving interventions, while safely operating emergency vehicles and documenting care.
To be successful, you will demonstrate expert clinical skills, exceptional critical thinking under stress, and compassionate communication, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

• While working under physician medical oversight, the Paramedic will assure quality of care by following the scope of practice provided by the National EMS Scope of Practice Model and further outlined by the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services. In addition, the individual is to align their role within functions set forth by CHI Saint Joseph Health.
• Administers BLS, PALS, ACLS and critical care interventions following the orders and supervision of the attending physician.
• Performs triage, assessments, interventions and patient education as needed.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records in a timely manner.
• Promotes patient’s independence by establishing personal rapport and care goals; teaching patients, friends and family to understand condition, medications, and self‑care skills; answering questions.
• Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support.

• Vocational School Grad Graduate from a nationally/state approved accrediting paramedic program., upon hire and
• 1-3 years 2 years of experience as a paramedic in a high volume patient care services, approved Critical Care endorsement, previous aeromedical, or clinical ER experience.
• During the orientation period, the Paramedic must successfully complete an approved Critical Care Paramedic course and pass the IBSC CCP‑C or the FP‑C exam to maintain employment. CHI Saint Joseph Health will cover the cost of the exam fee for the attempt they pass; any failed attempts will be the responsibility of the individual. After a third unsuccessful attempt, employment as a paramedic with CHI Saint Joseph will conclude, as the required certification standards will not have been met. After obtaining their CCP‑C or FP‑C, they must apply for and obtain their Advanced Practice Paramedic Licensure from the Kentucky Board of EMS.
• Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic: KY, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 Days and
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 6 - months
• Critical Care Paramedic, within 90 Days or
