Job summary

Ballard Spahr LLP, a nationally recognized law firm with more than 750 lawyers, seeks a Trusts and Estates Paralegal in the Private Client Services team under supervision of a Business and Transactions lawyer to assist senior paralegals and administer estates and trusts, posting account information to fiduciary software.

Responsibilities include maintaining fiduciary records, preparing accountings, probate documents, and valuing decedent assets while coordinating with clients and advisors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
• Experience in Trusts and Estates sought.
• Proficiency with accounting and tax software and MS Office tools.

Under the supervision of a Business and Transactions lawyer, a Trust and Estates Paralegal will assist more senior paralegals administer complex estates and trusts, independently administer estates and trusts and post account information to a fiduciary accounting program.

Your Role:

As a Trusts and Estates Paralegal within our Private Client Services team, you will:

• Maintain financial records for use in fiduciary accounting and tax preparation.
• Prepare fiduciary accountings.
• Prepare probate documents and related papers.
• Identify, gather and arrange valuation of decedent’s assets and perform tasks required to administer estates from probate through final settlement.
• Have frequent interaction with clients and their advisors.
• Prepare probate documents and related papers.

Required Experience:

A bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred, and previous relevant experience in Trust and Estates. Experience with accounting and tax preparation software such as OneSource/Zane, GEMs, or ProSystem fx, and proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel.
