Introduction

The Wisconsin State Public Defenders office (SPD) is currently recruiting to fill a Paralegal - Limited Term Employee (LTE) vacancy in our Elkhorn Trial office to work 40 hours per week.

Of special note regarding Limited Term Employment (LTE) employment with the State of Wisconsin:

• LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position, and do not lead to permanent status.
• LTE positions are not eligible for the State of Wisconsin health insurance coverage, the Wisconsin Retirement System contributions, and do not received paid time off.
• Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions.
• No more than 1039 hours may be worked in one year.

• Interviewing and gathering information from people of all ages and backgrounds (e.g., including those with mental health issues, addiction, poverty, or criminal records, etc.)
