Job summary

FSA Federal in Washington, DC, is seeking a Paralegal/Legal Assistant II to support the Money Laundering, Narcotics and Forfeiture Section (MNF). You will assist attorneys with case material, prepare digests, and help organize exhibits.

This role requires a Paralegal Certificate or a HS diploma with two years’ related experience; strong research, writing, and Office skills; and the ability to work under pressure in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Paralegal Certificate or HS diploma with 2+ years' related experience in law or government setting.
• Trial and automated litigation support experience preferred.
• Ability to grasp organization and functions of the customer.
• Knowledge of basic legal research and standard legal citation.
• Excellent communication, oral and written, including legal writing.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and legal databases.
• Commitment to provide excellent customer service; positive and flexible.
• Ability to work in a team and maintain professionalism under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorney in reviewing case material; gather and analyze materials; prepare digests and legal references.
• Draft, edit, and review non-legal information; create correspondence and research reports.
• Help prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and statistical charts and photographs.
• Interview potential witnesses and prepare summary reports.
• Review legal documents for citations and references.
• Attend pre-trial meetings to identify missing information and request further details.
• Prepare summaries of testimony and depositions after/during trial.
• Investigate facts and laws; search public records to prepare cases and research reports.
