Job summary

The Department of State is seeking a Legal Support position to assist the OABCC with hearings preparation, drafting of documents, and interpretation of State and Federal codes for processing applications and project planning.

Responsibilities include collecting and interpreting legal data, monitoring price postings, and preparing reports. Location options include Carvel State Office Building in Wilmington or Dover.

Qualifications

  • Two years experience in preparing and maintaining legal documents and case files.
  • Two years experience in legal research such as statutes, regulations, case law and background information.
  • Two years experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • One year experience in drafting legal documents and such as legal briefs or memoranda of law including presenting facts, setting out and analyzing legal issues and applying legal precedents.
  • One year experience in interviewing using structured or unstructured interview techniques to obtain facts, explore issues and identify courses of action.

Summary Statement

Provide legal support to the OABCC including preparation for hearings, creation of legal documents, drafting of website information, and interpretation of State and Federal codes to process applications and conduct project planning. Prepare for review various types of applications for liquor licenses based on Delaware’s Liquor Control Act. Collect and interpret legal data, monitor price posting, and prepare reports. This position reports to one of the locations below:
Carvel State Office Building:

Essential Functions

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:



  • Two years experience in preparing and maintaining legal documents and case files.

  • Two years experience in legal research such as researching statutes, regulations, case law and background information.

  • Two years experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.

  • One year experience in drafting legal documents and such as legal briefs or memoranda of law including presenting facts, setting out and analyzing legal issues and applying legal precedents.

  • One year experience in interviewing using structured or unstructured interview techniques to obtain facts, explore issues and identify courses of action.


Conditions of Hire

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
