Job summary

Lyft in Nashville is seeking a Paralegal II to support the Legal Team with investigations, discovery responses and case management. You will work closely with in-house counsel and a paralegal team to keep employment and litigation operations efficient and organized.

Strong communication and Mac/Google Apps proficiency are essential. The role is hybrid with in-office days, and the base pay range is described for the Nashville area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years relevant legal experience.
• JD or Paralegal certificate is not required for this position.
• Experience handling discovery in complex litigation matters.
• Ability to obtain notary license.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Exceptionally organized and efficient.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency working in a Mac environment, and with Google Apps, Excel, and Word; familiarity with e-discovery tools.

• Supports administrative, pre-litigation and litigation matters for Lyft’s Litigation & Employment team.
• Manages, tracks, calendars, and files responses to claims.
• Conducts factual investigations and drafts responses for various matters.
• Prepares memoranda and summaries of factual research with recommendations to supervising attorneys.
• Assists with discovery responses and court or agency filings; attends hearings.
• Creates efficient workflows and coordinates with internal teams and external counsel.

Working closely with Lyft’s in-house counsel and paralegal team, you will be responsible for investigating and responding to claims; conducting factual investigations; attending hearings and fact finding conferences; supporting administrative tracking of case related matters; and helping to keep Lyft’s employment and litigation operations efficient and organized. Responsibilities:

• Works closely with Lyft's in-house counsel Litigation & Employment team to support administrative, pre-litigation and litigation matters, as well as external legal requests.
• Manages, tracks, calendars, and files responses to claims.
• Independently conducts factual investigations to respond to administrative claims, demand letters, and other litigation and arbitration matters, and assist with drafting responses for these matters.
• Prepare memoranda and summaries of factual research and make recommendations to supervising attorneys.
• Assist with gathering documents and information to respond to discovery or information requests.
• Complete court or agency filings and attend court appearances or agency hearings.
• Thinks proactively about improving processes to help Lyft’s legal operations continue to scale effectively with incredible growth.
• Liaises with other teams within the company and external parties to ensure efficient workflow and handling of requests.
• Provides legal support to in-house attorneys, paralegals, and various internal business partners to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
• Helps define procedures and practices within Legal to promote efficient workflows and handling of legal requests.
• Maintains overall governance of existing processes and strategies.
• Liaises with internal and external counsel and contacts on a day-to-day basis.
• Leads projects and tasks within a broader legal strategy in collaboration with other team members.

Experience:

• Note that a JD or Paralegal certificate is not required for this position.

The expected base pay range for this position in the Nashville area is $72,160-$90,200. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
