Purpose
Keller Postman seeks a Paralegal I to support its practice of representing a broad array of clients as plaintiffs in complex litigation at the trial and appellate levels. The Paralegal I will be responsible for performing a variety of complex tasks in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Tasks and projects must be executed with a high level of attention to detail.
Paralegals may be based on our D.C. office and work a hybrid schedule of four days per week in the office, one day per week remote. Compensation for the position includes an hourly base salary of $35 to $40 per hour, depending on experience, plus a year-end, performance-based discretionary bonus and benefits.
Essential Functions
- Provide administrative and litigation support throughout various phases of cases, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and appeals.
- Assist attorneys with the preparation, formatting, filing, and organization of legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, correspondence, and exhibits using Microsoft Word, CM/ECF, and other systems.
- Conduct basic factual and legal research using Westlaw and other resources for attorney review.
- Assist with cite-checking legal documents for Bluebook compliance, Shepardizing authorities, and verifying quoted material and cited exhibits.
- Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, correspondence, and related materials in both hard copy and electronic case-management systems.
- Maintain case calendars, deadlines, and document tracking using firm software and organizational systems.
- Communicate professionally with courts, outside counsel, clients, experts, and vendors as directed.
- Coordinate with attorneys and internal departments to support efficient workflow and case management processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Familiarity with legal research tools and document management systems preferred.
- Ability to travel for up to one month at a time.
Education/Experience
- A minimum of 3 years related experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Westlaw preferred.
- Experience using the federal courts’ CM/ECF system, PACER, and Bluebook is a plus.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Certificates/Licenses Required
- An ABA-approved Paralegal certificate is preferred.
Language Ability
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
Physical Demands
- This job requires remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
