Job summary

Professional Alternatives seeks a seasoned Paralegal for a busy Texas defense firm. The role requires at least 5 years of litigation experience and the ability to manage exposure litigation with current technology.

Candidates will support discovery, filings, and trial preparation across multiple matters. Responsibilities include drafting initial disclosures, managing client documents, preparing logs, FOIA requests, and coordinating with courts and clients.

Responsibilities

• Conducts social media search, prior lawsuits, criminal records re Plts
• Prepares proposed draft Initial Disclosures
• Obtains and manages client documents
• Create and update logs of document production and records ordered
• Work with record services; Order medical and other associated records
• Summarize discovery responses, body cams
• Work with nurse paralegal regarding summary of medical records
• Review/analyze 18.001 Plaintiff Affidavits to determine need for billing experts
• Identify billing experts to review billing affidavits
• Ensure retained experts have needed documentation and deadlines
• FOIA requests
• Interact with various government and court officials regarding hearing and trial scheduling, as well as with clients
• Assist with all aspects of case litigation, including hearing and trial preparation including identifying and marking exhibits for motions, mediation, depositions, and trial
• Assist in trials with exhibits, demonstrative aids, witness subpoenas/preparation and scheduling.
