Job summary

Legal Help for Veterans, PLLC is seeking a full-time Paralegal/Claims Developer to build veterans' disability claims for submission to the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Board of Veterans' Appeals. Under the supervision of our attorneys, the role reviews client files, gathers evidence to strengthen claims, and drafts arguments and appeals.

Please note this position includes a significant amount of research and writing, with responsibilities spanning file management, VA case law

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated.
Strong business English writing, proofreading and editing.
Advanced computer skills (MS Office suite, Internet, company software).
Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Manage, maintain, and update client files with all pertinent correspondence and communications.
Learn how to apply VA Case Law and effectively translate it into clear, persuasive written arguments and appeals
Conduct research, review medical records and military personnel records, determine how to further develop client claims, draft appeals/arguments/claims
Track and maintain appeal deadlines
Communicate with clients via phone, email, and mail
Other duties as assigned
