Introduction
The Maryland Department of Labor is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Officer I within the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. This role will provide administrative support to the complaint unit of the Maryland Home Improvement Commissioner and serve as a paralegal for the complaint unit.
Position Details
GRADE: 13
LOCATION: 100 S. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201
Main Purpose of Job
Conduct research, analyze, interpret, and apply Maryland Home Improvement Law to prepare legal documents, including investigation requests, panel reviews for investigators, directors, or board commissioners. Make determinations regarding possible violations, legal contracts, and court records when applicable. Review all documents in complaint files to assess whether the allegations or violations have merit under the law or regulation.
Position Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalency
Experience: One year of administrative or professional work
Notes: Substitute 30 college credits or military service for experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AS400, interpreting Maryland laws, secretarial support, Microsoft Office, customer service, typing, and form creation.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland if duties require driving.
Special Requirements
Background check for unemployment overpayment/fraud debts; unpaid debts may impact employment.
