The Department of Justice, Office of Attorney General Liz Murrill, is seeking applications for a Paralegal 1-3. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Paralegal 1-3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Salary offered will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected.

Civil Division: The Civil Division provides legal representation to the state, its departments and agencies, boards and commissions, and statewide elected officials. Criminal Division:The Criminal Division assists federal, state, and local agencies in the investigation and prosecution of a wide range of criminal matters. The Criminal Division is comprised of White-Collar Crimes, Violent Crime and Drug Unit, Sexual Predator Apprehension Team, and the Insurance Fraud Unit. The Criminal Division also serves:
Federalism Division: The Solicitor General’s office within the Federalism Division coordinates the involvement of the Attorney General’s Office in cases before the United States Supreme Court, assists the Louisiana Department of Justice in preparing and presenting appellate cases in state and federal courts, directly handles select appeals, and coordinates the involvement of the Attorney General's Office with Amicus Curiae briefs.
Gaming Division: The Gaming Division represents the state and all agencies and boards with jurisdiction over gaming matters and regulation for riverboat gaming, land-based gaming, slots-at-the-track gaming, and video poker.
Litigation Division: The Litigation Division provides legal representation to theState of Louisiana and state employees in tort claims seeking damages in the areas of Civil Rights, General Liability, Medical Malpractice, Road Hazard, Transportation, and Worker's Compensation.
Medicaid Fraud Control Unit: The Louisiana Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) has the responsibility to investigate and prosecute all types of fraud perpetrated by providers of medical services in the Medicaid program. The MFCU also investigates and prosecutes allegations of abuse, and neglect of residents in health care facilities.
Public Protection Division: The Public Protection division handles complaints from consumers about businesses, resolves disputes, administers and enforces fair housing laws, manages insurance liquidations, and enforces state laws related to tobacco sales to ensure consumers are protected from unfair and deceptive trade practices.
