Ideal candidates have 5+ years of paralegal experience, civil litigation knowledge, and ABA-approved certification. Responsibilities include discovery, record management, and motion writing with proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years paralegal experience in civil litigation.
• Civil litigation experience required.
• Familiarity with web-based legal research services.
• Experience with paperless files; iManage a plus.
• Must pass background/drug screen.
• Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate from ABA-approved program.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys on parachute trial team in preparing civil cases for trial.
• Discovery and records management.
• Summarize medical and employment records; create chronologies; summarize discovery responses.
• Prepare oppositions to motions, including discovery motions.
• Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Organize and prioritize tasks; meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP is a nationally recognized Am Law 200 law firm with over 500 attorneys servicing clients in 40 offices and 22 states seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our Walnut Creek, California, office. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist attorneys on our parachute trial team in the preparation of a civil case for trial.
• Discovery and records management.
• Ability to summarize medical and employment records, create medical chronologies, summarize discovery responses, prepare meet and confer correspondence.
• Motion writing experience, such as oppositions to motions including discovery motions, motions to continue trial.
• Proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision and exceptional attention to detail.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

• 5+ years paralegal experience in a law firm
• Civil litigation experience required
• Familiarity with performing research tasks using web-based legal research services
• Experience working with paperless files. iManage experience a plus
• Must successfully pass a background/drug screen
• Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate from ABA-approved program required (Must be Business & Professions Code §6450 compliant)
