Job description
Overview

Small personal injury practice seeking a full-time remote paralegal (Spanish-speaking preferred). Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Some in-office time may be required. Training and initial employment will be remote, with occasional visits to the Mineola, NY office. A vehicle is preferred in case travel is necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for, and handle a bulk of, cases (over time).
  • Drafting and/or formatting litigation documents, including BPs, Responses to Combined Demands, Notices for Discovery & Inspection, RJIs, Stipulations, Letters, etc.
  • Medical record requests, including completion of HiTech Letters & HIPAs; follow-up with medical providers.
  • Scanning documents to the correct folder in the case and properly labeling them.
  • Opening mail and processing it (date-stamping when in office) and mailing as needed.
  • Shredding documents after scanning.
  • Answering phones, taking messages, and responding to emails.
  • Communicating with clients and supporting trial preparation.
  • Drafting and/or formatting ligation documents for cases; opening new cases; trial preparation.
  • Learning and using the case management software (Clio).
  • Managing office supplies and assisting with calendar of appearances (depositions, conferences, trials) with reminders.
  • Creating and maintaining a personal follow-up system to track matters.
Qualifications
  • Paralegal: 10 years (preferred).
  • Microsoft Office: 10 years (preferred).
  • Adobe: 10 years (preferred).
