Job summary

Komodo Law is seeking an experienced Paralegal to manage an active civil litigation caseload across personal injury, credit hire and recoveries. Working within an ABS, you’ll deliver high-quality client care, precise drafting, and compliant case management from a remote-first setup with hybrid options if you’re near Brighton.

Reporting to the Practice Manager within a team of six, you’ll contribute to knowledge sharing and professional development while handling small claims and fast-track work

Qualifications

• Civil Litigation Track Record: extensive experience handling personal injury, credit hire and recoveries with familiarity of CPR, pre-action protocols and OIC/MOJ portals.
• Track Competency (Small Claims & Fast Track): practical experience navigating early tracks with core procedural rules.
• Clear, Compelling Communication: articulate complex legal positions with warmth and tact in written advice and court correspondence.
• Commercial Mindset & Risk Instinct: balance legal remedies with business objectives and spot risks early.
• Meticulous Time & Priority Management: manage deadlines and diaries across a diverse caseload.

The role

Komodo Law is seeking an experienced Paralegal to manage an active civil litigation caseload across personal injury, credit hire and recoveries. Operating within an Alternative Business Structure (ABS), this role pairs dedicated mentorship with autonomy across small claims and fast-track files, offering clear pathways to take on greater responsibility as skills expand. Day-to-day work centers on high-quality client care, robust drafting, tactical negotiation, and upholding rigorous SRA compliance standards.

This role reports to the Practice Manager and sits within a team of 6. Our company HQ is based in Brighton, but we operate as a remote-first team, meaning this role can be performed 100% remotely from anywhere in the UK, with hybrid options available if local to Brighton.

What you’ll do

• Full-Cycle Case Ownership: Drive civil claims from initial instruction through to settlement or final hearing, adhering to internal quality and risk management standards.

• Empathetic & Decisive Client Guidance: Deliver clear, timely, and supportive legal advice to claimants, identifying when to navigate sensitive matters independently and when to elevate complex issues.

• Precision Legal Drafting: Prepare pleadings, court forms, letters of claim, witness statements, and comprehensive settlement agreements with high attention to detail.

• Tactical Negotiation & Advocacy: Under supervision negotiate robust settlement figures, assemble trial bundles, and instruct counsel to secure fair, driver-focused resolutions.

• Tech-Driven Case Management: Maintain structured files on Proclaim, tracking key limitation dates, deadlines, and procedural steps in compliance with SRA standards.

• Collaborative Knowledge Sharing: Contribute insights to team discussions, embrace continuous learning, and participate in ongoing professional development.

• First Interview: 60-minute video call with the Litigation Manager and People team to delve into the role, including role and team fit questions.

• Final Interview: 60-minute interview with Head of Practice and Director of Insurance
