Responsibilities

  • Track documents related to state registration, charitable status, and tax; draft, file and maintain records.
  • Create and maintain compliance tracking systems, records and training materials.
  • Identify, create and update legal documents for LA28 websites and materials.
  • Support dispute resolution on employment and data privacy matters, including document review.
  • Draft and review contracts for pre-, during-, and post-Games services and deliverables.

LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Paralegal, Employment and Compliance:

The Paralegal will be an integral part of the legal teamwitha keensense of independentjudgmentinleading and drivingtimelyand scalabledelivery ofoperational contracts.This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to increase your professional network, gain valuable experience, and grow with the organization as we gear up for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games!

This position will report to an Associate General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Trackbusiness entity documentsrelated tostate registration, charitable status, andtax.Draft, file, andmaintaindocuments and records.
  • Create andmaintaincompliance trackingsystems,records,andtraining.Create and provide training and support materials.
  • Identify,createandupdatelegal documents, includingon LA28 websites and other employee and board facingmaterials.
  • Participate indispute resolutionmanagement teamrelated to employment and data privacymatters, includinghandling document review.
  • Serve asdrafterandreviewerofa myriad of operational contractsforthe purchase ofservices and/or productsrelated topre-Games,Gamestime, and post-Gamesevents anddeliverables.
  • Interfacewith internal business partnersand externalpartiestodrivecontractnegotiations andmanagetiming expectations.
  • Draftcollateraldocuments necessaryforsolicitation of RFP’sand/or negotiations, including NDAs.
  • Draftconfidential correspondence, memos, contract summaries, reports, and presentations.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information and documents, includingmaintainingprocesses to ensure proper management of such information and documents.
  • Conductlegalresearch and analysison special projects.
  • Serve as theliaison betweendepartment heads and the legal teamand take lead inidentifyinginternal business needsrequiringspecializedcontractualelements.

  • 3+years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant preferred (preferably in a large law firm and/or corporate in-house legal department).
  • Concise grammatical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and experience preparing legal documents,presentationsand spreadsheets.Smartsheet experience a plus.
  • Experience working with contract management systems, highly preferred.
  • Strong ability to interact diplomatically and with professional maturity with senior executives,staffand external business partners.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional research, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent word processing and database management skills.
  • Positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others in fast paced and dynamic environment, both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • High levelof personal integrity and professional ethics; ability tomaintainabsolute confidentiality, to perform duties with utmost discretion and act with complete integrity.
  • Strong workethic, client-service orientation, and sound judgment.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, including ability toupdateandmaintaincontract forms,track contract negotiationprogressand status through contract management system.
Education:
  • Paralegal certification preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work on-site in an open office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time reviewingand/or proofreadingdetailedcontract provisions, comparing various versions of contracts, andrunningredlines
  • Ability to spendextended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
  • Perform other duties asrequired; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000-$85,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
