What You Need:

  • Education: An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Paralegal Certification with 3 years of related experience as a paralegal.

oProficient in reviewing and preparing transactional documents.

oAdditional experience in finance, real estate and/or title work is a plus.

  • Skills: Strong communication skills for effectiveinteractions with internal and external customers, strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work.

  • Support Operations – Legal, Loan Services, Title Services, Marketplace:
  • Participates in the review, preparation and coordination of closing documents and assists in resolving any title issues that arise
  • Conducts research related to real estate transactions, including with respect to ownership, land use, access, legal descriptions, liens, title exceptions and related matters
  • Follows up to clarify issues, inconsistencies and missing information relating to customers and loans
  • Fields questions from staff regarding title work and legal documents
  • Ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to real estate transactions and Association policies

  • Document Review and Preparation:
  • Reviews real estate transactional documents, such as purchase and sale agreements, leases, deeds and closing documents
  • Reviews various real estate title documents, including title insurance commitments, title exception documents, appraisals and other documents for accuracy and adherence to applicable regulations and Association policies and procedures
  • Reviews and/or prepares various documents including deeds of trust, subordination agreements, deeds, affidavits, releases and other closing documents under the supervision of counsel.
  • Conducts due diligence relating to business entities (review of formation and governing documents, verification of good standing, review/preparation of resolution/authorization forms)
  • Assists in the preparation and updating of templates
  • Facilitates loan documentation requests to internal and external legal counsel; reviews documents for consistency with credit approvals and Association policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Paralegal Certification
  • 3 years of related experience as a paralegal
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Working knowledge of real estate law and transactions
  • Working knowledge of title insurance and closing processes
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics and to effectively communicate complex issues
  • Skill in utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Skill in processing complex, detailed information in an accurate and thorough manner
  • Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues
  • Verbal and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor and customers
  • Skill in organizing material and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency
  • Skill in applying processes and procedures to factual data to come to make logical decisions
  • Responsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data
