Job summary

Hirewell seeks an experienced Commercial Real Estate Paralegal for a well-established Chicago law firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. The role supports complex transactions across commercial, industrial, multifamily, manufactured housing, and retail properties.

The ideal candidate will manage transactions end-to-end from due diligence through closing, with strong title experience and ability to coordinate with title companies, lenders, and clients in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of commercial real estate transactional and/or real estate finance experience.
  • Hands-on experience managing commercial real estate transactions from start to finish.
  • Experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions.
  • Strong title experience including reviewing commitments and clearing issues.
  • Knowledge of ALTA survey standards and related materials.
  • Experience coordinating with title companies and lenders.

  • Review agreements, track deadlines, and prepare closing/checklists.
  • Coordinate closings with clients, title companies, lenders, and other parties.

Job description

A well-established Chicago law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Real Estate Paralegal to join its sophisticated Real Estate Practice Group. This individual will support complex transactions involving commercial, industrial, multifamily, manufactured housing, and retail properties.

The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on commercial real estate experience and be comfortable independently managing transactions from initial due diligence through closing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial real estate transactions from beginning to end, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, leasing, joint ventures, and development matters
  • Review purchase and sale agreements and track critical dates and transaction requirements
  • Prepare and maintain closing and due diligence checklists
  • Review title commitments, surveys, zoning materials, and ALTA surveys
  • Identify and assist with clearing title issues and prepare title objection notices and response letters
  • Coordinate tax clearance and bulk sale requirements
  • Prepare and review estoppels, SNDAs, UCC financing statements, lease abstracts, and other transaction documents
  • Manage due diligence materials and document collection
  • Prepare and review closing documents and coordinate execution
  • Coordinate closings with attorneys, clients, title companies, lenders, and other third parties
  • Prepare electronic closing binders and maintain organized transaction files
  • Track critical dates and matters through the firm's docketing system
  • Communicate directly with clients and third parties throughout the transaction lifecycle
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of commercial real estate transactional and/or real estate finance experience
  • Strong experience independently supporting commercial real estate transactions from start to finish
  • Hands-on experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions
  • Strong title experience, including reviewing title commitments, clearing title issues, reviewing surveys and zoning materials, and preparing objection notices
  • Knowledge of ALTA survey standards
  • Experience with due diligence, closing checklists, closing documents, estoppels, SNDAs, UCCs, and lease abstracts
  • Experience coordinating directly with title companies and lenders
  • Commercial leasing, joint venture, and/or development experience is a plus
  • Law firm experience preferred; strong in-house commercial real estate experience will also be considered
  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
  • Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple transactions in a deadline-driven environment
