Job summary

Ameriprise Financial in Boston is seeking a Paralegal to support Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ registered funds under the direction of an attorney. You will perform ongoing legal and regulatory activities for the funds, including filings and interaction with business lines, outside counsel, and accountants.

The position focuses on supporting investment advisory activities, governance matters, and collaboration with Asset Management Legal.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree plus paralegal certificate or equivalent experience.
  • One to three years’ relevant experience.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze and apply legal requirements applicable to registered investment companies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the creation, updating, and filing of registration statements post-effective amendments containing prospectuses and SAIs and other disclosure documents required by the 1940 Act, the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
  • Solicits and coordinates input to disclosure documents from business lines, outside counsel and outside accountants.
  • Provide legal and regulatory support for Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ investment advisory business, including governance matters and regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with Asset Management Legal in the General Counsel’s Organization and with other lines of business.
  • Support the team of lawyers and paralegals supporting Columbia Threadneedle Investments.

Job Description

Ameriprise Financial is looking to add a Paralegal to the team! This position will focus primarily on supporting the Columbia Threadneedle Investments registered investment companies. Under the direction of an attorney, responsible for performing on-going legal and regulatory related activities with respect to the registered investment companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the creation, updating, and filing of registration statement post-effective amendments containing prospectuses and statements of additional information (SAIs) (including annual updates and supplements thereto) and other disclosure documents required by the Investment Company Act of 1940 ("1940 Act"), Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
  • Solicits and coordinates input to disclosure documents from business lines (including product, marketing, fund administration, compliance and investment personnel), outside counsel and outside accountants.
  • Responsibilities may also include providing legal and regulatory support for Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ investment advisory business, including those relating to: (i) the collective investment trusts; (ii) compliance with existing and new SEC regulations; (iii) various Ameriprise Financial entities and their related products or investments; and (iv) corporate governance matters.
  • The Paralegal will work closely with other members of Asset Management Legal in the General Counsel’s Organization, as well as members of the firm’s various lines of business.
  • The position would be part of a team of lawyers and paralegals supporting Columbia Threadneedle Investments.
Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree plus paralegal certificate or equivalent experience.
  • One to three years’ relevant experience.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze and apply legal requirements applicable to registered investment companies.
  • Mature, professional demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to successfully manage several ongoing assignments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing and problem-solving skills.
  • Dedicated team player.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience supporting an asset management business is preferred

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $56,100 - $98,600/year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
