Job summary

The Meriden School District is seeking a paraprofessional to support students with diverse needs under the supervision of special education and regular education teachers to promote student achievement of goals and objectives.

Responsibilities include assisting with Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy routines, mobility for students, personal care, feeding, toileting, data recording, and participation in field trips and life skills activities, with flexibility to adapt to schedule changes

Qualifications

• Applicants must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and support student instruction.
• Flexibility to adjust to schedule changes as directed by teachers/principal.
• Additional coursework and/or experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.

Description:

The paraprofessional will work with a variety of students, including multiple handicapped and autism, under the supervision of the special education and regular education teachers to provide academic and physical assistance to promote student achievement of goals and objectives. This involves supporting students in all aspects of their day and the ability to work in diverse classroom settings, which may include, but is not limited to, assistance with Occupational Therapy & Physical Therapy routines, therapy activities, physical assistance for mobility, lifting, personal care, toileting, grooming, feeding, parallel exercise, swimming, field trips, life skills instruction and all other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or building principal.

Requirements:

A Para-Pro Certificate, an Associate Degree, or 60 college credits are required to fulfill this position. Please note that until you fulfill the above requirements, you will be hired as a substitute paraeducator. This does not include any benefits and is an hourly rate of $18.10.

Salary: $18.96/ hr
