Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools at Gaithersburg High School is seeking a paraeducator to support students with IEPs and assist in delivering instruction and managing classroom activities. You will help implement instructional programs, monitor student behavior, and provide clerical support as needed in a dynamic school setting.

The role requires an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred) and experience in educational environments. Flexibility with scheduling and location changes is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Nine credit-hours related to education such as behavior management or instructional strategies.
• One year of experience with students in structured educational settings preferred.
• If no related coursework, two to four years of experience with children/adolescents in structured settings may be considered.
• ParaPro assessment with qualifying score (455+) required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support students with IEPs, promoting learning and well‑being.
• Assist with instruction and classroom management to facilitate curriculum mastery.
• Provide related clerical support to teachers and staff.
• Adapt to flexible scheduling and location changes, including outside duties as needed.
• Continue planned instructional activities during teacher absences.
