Job summary

ISD 622 in North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale seeks a Paraeducator Monitor to supervise lunch and break areas, escort students as needed, and support daily school routines.

You will respond to escalating situations, provide light first aid, and report concerns while maintaining confidentiality and strong communication with staff. The 21.25-hour work week runs Monday through Friday, starting ASAP, with pay at $20.85 per hour under the labor agreement.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Prior experience with school-aged youth (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Monitor the cafeteria, playground, and/or other common areas utilized over the lunch period (including classrooms and the gym when utilized for indoor recess).
• Escort students as needed to/from the office, nurse's office, etc.
• Recognize an escalating/emergency situation, call for help, and defuse/assist with the situation until help arrives
• Address and problem solve concerns that are observed or brought forward
• Perform light first aid as needed
• Identify and report students who leave the building without prior authorization
• Assist Building Engineer/Custodian with limited cleaning functions such as wiping off lunch tables, mopping up spills, picking up trash, etc.
• Maintain communication with other staff members via two-way radio
• Other related duties as assigned

May be regularly required to walk throughout a building and may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance or push up to 90 pounds, and must be able to restrain students with proper training and assistance when needed, and may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
