Job summary

White Bear Lake Area Schools #624 is seeking a Paraprofessional/Early Childhood Assistant for Birch Lake Elementary in White Bear Lake, MN. The role supports Pre-K students in whole group, small group, and individual settings under the Paraeducator Agreement, with a 5.5 hour workday (9:00am–2:30pm) and 27.5 hours per week.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and preference for an AA/AS degree; experience with special education is valued.

Position Summary: Performs intermediate human support work assisting classroom teachers by working with students in the whole group, in small groups or individually and related work as apparent or assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working with children
• Associates/Technical degree preferred.
• Experience supporting students with special education needs
• Experience organizing and managing special education paperwork

Special Requirements:

• Must hold AA/AS degree, completed 60 semester credits, approved competency portfolio or pass MN Parapro test
• Training in Blood Borne Pathogens upon hire.
• Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention within 6-12 months upon hire as needed for program.
• Valid driver's license in the State of Minnesota.
