Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking a Paraeducator - General Education to support students, including ELL, in assigned elementary/secondary settings. Qualifications

• Para Educator License required.

Responsibilities

• Implement individual or small/whole group instructional lessons under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Document and report student behavior as directed by the teacher.
• Collaborate with the teacher, prepare and maintain materials.
• Escort students within the building as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Attend meetings and staff development activities, providing observations and reports.

Function / Position Summary

Enhance the student's mastery of concepts and academic skills in targeted subject areas based on student/classroom needs. Reinforce classroom instruction for individual student or small/whole groups. Perform duties and activities under direct supervision of a certified staff member. Adhere to published policies and procedures distributed by the district and school. Maintain confidentiality of student, staff and department information within the school and community

Job Duties / Responsibilities

• Document and report student behavior as directed by the teacher.
• Collaborate with the teacher, prepare and maintain materials.
• Escort students within the building, as directed by the classroom teacher.

Education

• Para Educator, Substitute, Professional Educator or Provisional Educator License required.
• Minimum education requirement for a Para Educator License is completion of at least 60 semester hours of college course work or a passing score on the ETSPara Pro exam or two specific Work Keys exams.

Experience / Knowledge

• Experience working with students in an educational setting preferred.

Physical Demands

• Excellent physical agility and quick response time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Terms of Employment

• This is a 10-month position.
• Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education and set forth in the collective bargaining agreement as applicable.
• The starting rate for this role is $22.48/hr., 6.5 hours per day.
